HOW TO CALCULATE THE POND VOLUME IN LITRES

STEP 1
You will need to measure the dimensions of the pond in metres (or yards will do) to the nearest half metre. Absolute accuracy is not essential, and an average depth can be used for ponds with sloping sides. For odd shaped ponds (e.g. kidney shaped), measure the pond at its longest and widest to ensure that the pond volume is over-estimated and therefore the pond is not underdosed with Clarity.

STEP 2
Multiply the measurements to obtain the pond volume in cubic metres.

STEP 3
Multiply the pond volume in cubic metres by 1000 to obtain the volume in litres.

An example:
Pond measurements are 2.5 yards (length) by 1.5 yards (wide) by 0.5 yards (average depth).
Assume yards = metres.
Pond volume = 2.5m x 1.5m x 0.5m = 1.875 cubic metres
Pond volume = 1.875 cubic metres x 1000 = 1875 litres

If you want to know the pond volume in gallons, then divide the volume in litres by 4.5.
The example above is 1875 litres divide by 4.5 = approximately 415 gallons.
